About Ilse Creates

Well met, I'm Lady Ilse from the Barony of Hawkwood in the Kingdom of Atlantia. I'm a Hellhound, an artist, an archer, and a big nerd. I'm married to Lord Talor McPhearsom of Hawkwood, and together we have a beautiful and sassy all black cat named Viviana (Vivi), a sweet and goofy hound named Scout, and way too much SCA gear in our small apartment!

My partner introduced me to the SCA in 2023, and I immediately fell in love with the people and activities. The SCA got me into embroidery, as I witnessed the incredible works that my friends in the Society produced, and I knew immediately that I wanted to try it, too. Since then, I've entered a few competitions with my pieces, and was recognized for my work at War of the Wings 2025, where I received my AOA and was inducted into the Order of the Coral Branch.

That same year, I was also inducted as an official member of the Hellhounds, where I serve my household in A&S competitions and on the archery range. I've been encouraged to start my own website to display my art and reach a wider audience, so here I am! On this page, you can expect to read about my embroidery projects, in addition to other forms of art that I dabble in, both in the SCA and in mundania. 

Speaking of mundania, I work in the nonprofit sector as a resource development manager (fundraiser), and love giving back to my community. Service and mutual aid are my top priorities, and I love being part of such a loving and advocacy-oriented community. Hobbies outside of the SCA include reading, drawing, wood burning, crochet, gaming, and language learning. I lived in China and speak fluent Mandarin, and I study a few other languages as well!
